Feel like giving up on your dreams?
I got a quick question for ya…. Have you ever created a goal you didn’t reach? …
Of course.
What did you do next? Did you give up or did you get back up and try again?
Unfortunately, most of us give up. After failing we feel incompetent and when it is something we so desperately want, we feel like our world is over. In the heat of the moment giving up feels like our only option. right?
No. Deep down we know that quitting is not only giving up on our dreams, but its giving up on ourselves.Of course we don’t want that, but in the moment the pain is so intense we get lost in it and give up anyway.
The problem is that we struggle to stay clearheaded in the mist of failure. So I have compiled some ways to help us continue the fight for our dreams. I hope this helps. Feel free to leave any advice that you would like to give in the comments.
1. have a reason that could make you cry.
Why are you fighting for this dream in the first place? The strength of your reasons are directly related to your resolve to keep moving. Take time to really dig deep within yourself and discover want lights the candle to of your heart. Like they say ” if your why, don’t make you cry, then you need to find another reason why…”
2. keep inspiration around you.
Completely surround yourself with your goals. Have pictures on your wall that resemble the lifestyle you want to live. Find quotes that lift your spirits. Find friends who share your goals. Try to have your inspiration in every area of your life. Keep cool quotes in your wallet. Have inspiration in you house, car, office, clothing etc. Doing this will not only reduce the amount of time you want to quit, it will also be a powerful reminder that can quickly pull out of the rough times.
3. reflect
When you feel uncertain about your goals, write about it in your journal. This allows you to see your problem as separate from yourself. Its like listening to a friend share their troubles; its so much easier to find the solutions for someone else. So when you read your problem act as if it someone else. You will be amazed at all the answers you will have.
4.follow the leaders
Actively seek role models to teach you and to motivate you. Seeing others that are successful in the fields that you want to achieve success reminds you that it possible for you too.
5. make adjustments
What has gotten you this far, won’t get you any further. If you find that you have flat-lined or you are you are going backwards, it time to make a change. Maybe you have to invest more in yourself or change your schedule. Just keep in mind to make small changes at a time so that you can effectively track your success to each change.
6. action
This is the tough reality. Some days you just wont be inspired, your reasons wont compel you and taking a break to reflect is more of a distraction than anything else. When it gets to this point, the only answer is ACTION…. SUCK IT UP and do it. Luckily these are rare moments in our journey, but it is when most people give up. Don’t give in to you feelings. After a while action will be a habit and you will be virtually unstoppable.
I hope this helps you
